Sealing the ducts in your air conditioning, heating and ventilation system is a smart way to save energy and money.


All too often, the duct joints in an air conditioning, heating and ventilation (HVAC) system are only sealed with duct tape. While duct tape is an extremely useful product, it is only a temporarily measure when it comes to sealing ductwork.
Ducts run through ceilings and attics where extreme heat and cold can cause separation at the joints. Those leaky ducts can lose as much as 25% of the air that has been cooled or warmed. In addition, air contaminated with undesirable particles can leak into your ducts from the attic or crawl space.

If you notice a layer of dust drifting in from your air vents this is an indication that leaks have already sprung. Permanent duct sealing requires painting with mastic, a thick gooey substance. Once your ducts are properly sealed and insulated, you'll save on your air conditioning and heating bills and you'll be more comfortable in the long-run.
